VH1 announced on Wednesday that Rimes and her husband, Eddie Cibrian, will star in a new show, "LeAnn & Eddie" (working title), that "will bring the truth and make fun of all the gossip."
"We are really excited to be working together on a unique show that will give you a glimpse into who we really are or better yet who we're really not," the couple said in a statement. "We're thrilled to partner with VH1 and The Gurneys to put our spin on a project full of love, humor and music."
In late May, LeAnn told omg! she and Eddie were developing a scripted comedy for TV that would poke fun at the way the two are perceived.
"It's been quite annoying the things that people have written for a while, and now we've started to laugh at it,” Rimes explained. “This way, we can actually show that we have fun with this stuff, because it's hysterical and outlandish. It gives us a chance to poke fun at ourselves, which we do all the time and no one sees."
LeAnn, 30, and Eddie, 40, tied the knot in 2011, two years after they met on set of Lifetime's 2009 film "Northern Lights" while they were both still married to other people. Since their affair was revealed, Rimes, Cibrian, and his ex-wife Brandi Glanville have become tabloid fodder.
“LeAnn & Eddie” is set to premiere on VH1 in fall 2013/winter 2014 with six half-hour episodes. Is it too much to hope for a crossover between this and "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills"?
