TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA/AP) – Maintenance and operations at Busch Gardens are still working to figure out what caused a ride to malfunction, that left 16 people stuck Wednesday afternoon.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue, all 16 people who were stuck on the Cheetah Hunt roller coaster at Busch Gardens were rescued safely off the ride.
Busch Gardens Spokesman Travis Claytor says the ride stopped shortly after the train left the gate at 2:30 p.m. before it got to the main launch track and first major hill. Workers tried to let gravity pull the train back down so the riders could get off, but that didn't work.
The park posted the update on its official twitter account shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Claytor says they're not sure when the ride will reopen.
No one was injured.
