Tampa, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-Armed with a special grant, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is set to saturate county roads and recreational areas with D.U.I. patrols over the Memorial Day weekend. The grant money was awarded from the Florida Department of Transportation.
The S.O.'s Operation 3-D D.U.I. Squad will be looking for impaired drivers operating on county roads. Deputies will also patrol near county parks known for active outdoor activities. Squad members will also be checking county parks with boat ramps.
Sheriff David Gee is encouraging people to drink responsibly and not to drink and drive.
Hillsborough deputies arrested 21 people for D.U.I. last Memorial Day weekend.
Expect Florida Highway Patrol Troopers and police to also be out in force over the holiday.
