Tampa, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-An eight year-old girl is recovering after being attacked by a dog on Lancaster Lane in the Progress Village area.
Hillsborough deputies say the girl and others were dog sitting inside a house when the dog attacked. Investigators aren't yet sure why the dog bit the girl.
The girl was taken to Tampa General for treatment of her injuries. The child's injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
The dog that attacked the girl is a male American Staffordshire Terrier. The dog is in the custody of Hillsborough County Animal Services and is being held at the shelter on North Falkenburg Road.
The girl has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
