New Rules for Florida's Prescription Database

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (970 WFLA)- Florida health officials have come up with a new rule that is supposed to ensure the confidentiality of the state's prescription drug database.

33-hundred names were released inadvertantly and Pam Birch Fort with the ACLU says the only way to stop that is to require a search warrant signed by a judge.

Jacksonville Sheriff's investigator Corrine Abramowitz says requiring a warrant would defeat the whole purpose of the database which allows them to find people who are doctor shopping.

There will be another workshop on the drug database next month.
