St. Pete Police Working Early Morning Shooting

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla (970 WFLA)-St Pete police are investigating a shooting near the New Plaza Motel in North St. Pete.

Police say 45 year old Anthony G. Taylor, a former motel security officer, at the New Plaza Motel, shot at the motel manager several times because he had recently lost his job at the motel and received an eviction notice.

Detectives converged on the motel after the shooting, the former security officer ran toward the 3500 block of 3rd Avenue North.

Police say they found Taylor with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at a vacant lot near by. He died at the scene.

The motel manager Jerome Horacek was shot several times in the upper body. Paramedics transported him to Bayfront Medical Center. He has been treated and released.

The investigation continues.
