TARPON SPRINGS, Fla (970 WFLA)- An 11th grader from Tarpon Springs is now facing charges for bringing a loaded gun to school on Monday.
School resource officers recieved a tip and removed 16-year old Dre'Tonio Maitez Greer from his class. Greer freely admitted to bringing the .32 caliber handgun to school. Police say there were 3 rounds in the magazine and the serial number had been filed off.
Greer stated he was having problems outside of school with some other students and needed the gun for protection.
Greer is now facing charges of possessing a firearm on school grounds and carrying a concealed firearm. Both charges are felonies.
