Country Music has the Academy of Country Music Awards, and of course there is the American Music Awards, but what about dance music? For a genre that seems to continue to grow in America, there aren't many awards shows dedicated to our favorite DJs and producers. But perhaps this is coming to an end. The New York Post is reporting that there is an electronic dance music awards show in the works.
According to The Post, the producer of the Golden Globes, Dick Clark Productions is the company looking to produce the one-of-a-kind awards show. A source tells The New York Post that DCP is looking for a TV partner to air the broadcast.
Dick Clark CEO Allen Shapiro, declined to comment on the subject.
We already have the International Dance Music Awards during Miami Music Week. But will we be seeing a televised dance music awards show in the future? What would a dance music award look like? Perhaps a pair of headphones? And who would host it? Who would air it? Only time will tell!
